Ingredients

Scale

For the Dip:

  • 8 oz container of mushrooms, roughly chopped
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 large scoop minced garlic
  • 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Pepper and garlic herb seasoning, to taste

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup Italian panko bread crumbs
  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Sauté Mushrooms and Garlic: In a pan over medium to high heat, add the roughly chopped mushrooms and 3 tablespoons of butter. Cook for a couple of minutes until the mushrooms begin to soften, then add the minced garlic and toss together. Continue cooking for another few minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and shredded Parmesan cheese. Season with pepper and garlic herb seasoning to taste. Mix well until creamy and smooth.
  3. Combine Mushrooms with Cream Cheese Mixture: Add the cooked mushrooms and garlic mixture into the cream cheese mixture. Stir thoroughly to evenly incorporate all ingredients.
  4. Transfer to Baking Dish: Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray. Pour the combined mushroom and cheese mixture into the pan, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Prepare and Add Topping: In a small bowl, mix the Italian panko bread crumbs with the grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the dip in the pan.
  6. Drizzle Butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the breadcrumb topping to help achieve a golden crust.
  7. Bake and Broil: Place the baking dish in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C). Bake for 12 minutes until the dip is hot and bubbly. Then broil for about 2 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy. Watch closely during broiling to prevent burning.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your stuffed mushroom dip warm with crackers, bread, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor and texture.
  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the dip.
  • Keep a close eye during broiling to avoid burning the breadcrumb topping.
  • Can be prepared a few hours ahead and baked just before serving.
  • Serve with toasted baguette slices, tortilla chips, or raw vegetable sticks.
