Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base

  • 1 ball of pizza dough (about 12-inch)

Roasted Garlic White Sauce

  • 1 head garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 3/4 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Toppings

  • 1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Roast Garlic: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Slice the top off the head of garlic to expose the cloves, drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil, wrap tightly in foil, and roast for 20 minutes or until the garlic is soft and fragrant.
  2. Prepare Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch diameter circle. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone, ready for topping.
  3. Make White Sauce: Once the garlic is roasted and cooled enough to handle, squeeze the softened garlic cloves into a bowl. Mash them well and combine with the ricotta cheese, remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt, and black pepper to create a creamy roasted garlic white sauce.
  4. Assemble Pizza: Spread the roasted garlic white sauce evenly over the rolled-out pizza dough. Top with the shredded cooked chicken, followed by an even layer of shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and sprinkle dried oregano over the top.
  5. Bake Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Slice and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For a crisper crust, use a pizza stone and preheat it in the oven before baking the pizza.
  • If you don’t have cooked chicken breast handy, rotisserie chicken works well for a quick substitute.
  • You can adjust the amount of garlic according to your taste preference for a milder or stronger garlic flavor.
  • Fresh basil is optional but adds a wonderful fresh aroma and flavor contrast.
  • This pizza is best enjoyed fresh but leftover slices can be reheated in the oven for the best texture.
