Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

Meat

  • 1 cup cooked ground sausage (mild or spicy, crumbled)

Additional Flavorings

  • 1 4 oz can diced green chiles, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

For Serving

  • Crackers, tortilla chips, or bread slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a medium baking dish or cast-iron skillet to prevent sticking and prepare it for the dip mixture.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease to keep the dip from becoming oily.
  3. Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Stir the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Add Cheese & Flavor: Add the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, cooked sausage, diced green chiles, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings including garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  5. Bake: Spread the prepared dip mixture evenly into the greased baking dish. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  6. Serve Hot: Remove the dip from the oven and optionally garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm alongside crackers, tortilla chips, or slices of bread for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, increase the cayenne pepper or choose spicy sausage.
  • Drain the green chiles well to prevent excess moisture in the dip.
  • Use a cast-iron skillet for even cooking and a rustic presentation.
  • This dip can be prepared a day ahead; store in the refrigerator and bake just before serving.
  • For a milder version, omit the cayenne pepper and use mild sausage.
