Dragon Sauce is a versatile, tangy, and mildly spicy condiment that combines soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger with a kick of sriracha. Perfect as a marinade, dipping sauce, or drizzle for stir-fries and grilled dishes, this easy-to-make sauce balances sweet, savory, and spicy flavors with a smooth, thickened texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce Base

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp sriracha sauce (adjust to spice preference)

Thickening Slurry

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Combine the Base Ingredients: In a small saucepan, add the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sriracha sauce. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
  2. Prepare the Slurry: In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth to create a slurry that will thicken the sauce evenly without lumps.
  3. Simmer the Sauce: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the pan.
  4. Thicken the Sauce: Slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens to a smooth, glossy consistency.
  5. Cool and Serve: Once thickened, remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly. Use the Dragon Sauce immediately or transfer to an airtight container for storage.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the level of heat according to your preference.
  • This sauce works well as a marinade, dipping sauce, or drizzled over stir-fried vegetables, chicken, or grilled meats.
  • Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
